Select Auto-Play from the preferences sidebar. To access websites, go to the Preferences menu. The Pandora app icon should be pressed and held at the bottom until an x appears in the corner of the screen. Keep in mind that this will use more battery power, so you may want to disable it when you’re not using the app. Now Pandora will continue to play even if you open another app or turn off your screen. Open the app and tap the menu icon in the top-left corner. Make sure you have the latest version of the Pandora app installed. Here’s how to allow Pandora to play in the background on your Android phone: 1. It’s a frustrating limitation, but there is a workaround. That means if you open another app or turn off your screen, the music stops playing. I wish Mazda would work with Pandora and figure it out.If you’re a Pandora user, you may have noticed that the app doesn’t work in the background on your Android phone. Lately it has been worse for dropping connections with Pandora app, but I t never drops unless I loose data connection when using Pandora over Bluetooth (it just does not sound as good). 760 and latest updates on iPhone 6 for iOS and paid subscription to Pandora app. It is not the wifi (on or off), I have the updated. If I have the phone playing and not connected to the car with blue-tooth it will just have audio breakups or buffering pauses and recover on its own. I think what happens is the car CMU/phone connection software is very sensitive to dropouts and gives up on the slightest issue when the phone has internet streaming problems. As soon as I turn off WiFi and force the phone to the cell data network it behaves very well (latest US CMU firmware & Android 6.x). Since I have Comcast and they have many APs in town that I can connect to automatically as a guest this can happen every few blocks in places. If I forget and leave my phone WiFi turned on while driving it causes Pandora to loose connection every time the WiFi makes a new connection. One issue I have noticed with my Android phone is the same as RonRob61 mentioned. I do not consider the system to be stable enough to warrant it. Yes, I've had the system updated to the latest level. My 6 year old Panasonic head unit is far more reliable. ![]() Let's just say that this is the ONLY head unit I have these problems with. Then again, I've had numerous issues with it recognizing my phone over USB as well. Often I'll have to reboot either the phone, the infotainment unit, or both to regain temporary stability.Ģ) Yes the bluetooth is really unstable. Both exhibited the exact same behaviors with the infotainment system.ġ) Not my issue, Pandora randomly does this with full signal in multiple places. Since owning the ND Ive had both the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S7edge. Since doing so the phone has had no disconnects in about 5 months. Ive set a biweekly reminder in the phone to perform a reboot now. The fix has been to simply reboot the phone. Actually this has only happened a few times in 8 months. When I say frequent disconnects I mean when it happens the disconnects are frequent, every 30 secs or so not that it happens frequently. BUt again, its isnt an issue with the infotainment system, its my phone. Im not sure what causes the instability but it manifests itself with frequent disconnects. When this happens the infotainment system throws a message on the screen saying that "CHECK YOUR CONNECTION, THE PANDORA SERVICE IS NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE" The fix is to either turn off the wifi or wait till i pull away from the house to fire up PAndora.Ģ, Bluetooth connection to the infotainment system becomes unstable. Ive noticed that if Im parked in my driveway pandora will freeze but its due to the the wifi connection being weak and the phone bouncing between the wifi and internal 4g service. 2 issues:ġ, my phone is connected to my wifi when im at home. Ive pinned down the 10% of the time that Ive had issues and know how to work around. I use pandora via bluetooth everyday now for 8 months in my ND and it works just fine 90% of the time. This doesnt seem to be an issue with the infotainment system. If it had a standard form factor, it'd be gone already. As I said, I'm sorely disappointed with the entire infotainment system, and it is absolutely the worst I've seen (Mazdas). The app is completely unstable, rendering it pretty much useless.
