![]() I might suggest a Blooper, because you can seriously manipulate the phrase loops. It's possible to nail down the Mood in certain ways that result in cool stand-alone effects, which you can't get to on the Microcosm because it just doesn't give you the parameters. Pedal wise the Hologram Electronics Microcosm is pretty much the most. but FWIW the Mood can also do things the Microcosm can't. Id love AudioThing, Valhalla or SoundToys to make some hardware, though I think. The Mood is very capable, but i have a nice reverb and delay so again i dont use it as much as I should. The Microcosm can definitely do things the Mood can't. As stand alone effects, delay, reverb etc. I also have the blooper, so thats another reason i use the mood less. Features include Stereo In/Out, MIDI sync, tap tempo. Or a bines the phrase looper with a beautiful reverb.alas also mono only. The microcosm can be a looper, a wired noise maker, do layered loops. Biggest competitor is Microcosm by Hologram. There were issues, I read, initially with some of the effects in the Microcosm not being triggered because of something to do with input levels (basically was advised that you need a compressor to get it to work). Create ambient, glitch, and other wild sounds with your guitar, synthesizer, or other instrument. You can play some tricks to use the modifiers live on Blooper, but its pretty rigid once youve set it. I have a Timeline and a Mercury 7 so definitely sorted for a nice delay and reverb, but aside from all the amazing sounding granular/looping/glitch sounds, it’s always good to have a second delay and reverb. A big part of the appeal of the M is the workflow and amount of modulation possible. More posts you may like r/synthesizers Join 2 yr. I find the micro looper part of the mood a bit of a one trick pony, but that could be me not really trying to push it, and i never really get on with the dip switches on CB stuff, too hard to access in my set up. I didnt love the audio fidelity of Microcosm, and the granular effect is difficult to reign in however the looper is great, so long as you have a MIDI controller to turn it on and access its speed and reverse effects. I own both the Mood and the microcosm, and of pick the microcosm hands down, but you do get a micro looper + effects, and the effects are more 'stand alone' than the microcosm.
